Mandate for the Development of Dragon Boat in Western Canada Committee
The Development of Dragon Boat in Western Canada (DDBWC) is a new committee formed by and under Dragon Boat Canada, the governing body for dragon boat nationally. The DDBWC has been tasked with studying the present state of dragon boat, identifying strengths and areas of improvement, developing a strategy for growing the sport and communities in Western Canada, and developing plans to do so. Our goal is to further develop the sport of dragon boating for paddlers, coaches, officials, and administrators. The geographic area includes BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.
In striving to achieve and maintain this mandate, the current members of the committee are:
Brad Howie (Vancouver)
Darwin Li (Edmonton) - Chair for the DDBWC
Greg Lamb (Vancouver)
Holly Wylie (Nanaimo)
Lauria MacDougall (Edmonton)
Marcelin Gautron (Winnipeg)
Shane Martin (Calgary)
Vern Kimmie (Regina)
The DDBWC will be reporting to Pat Pawlet (Vancouver), who is a Western Rep for Dragon Boat Canada, in conjunction with Rob Varnel (Vancouver) and Catharine Edwards (Nanaimo), who are also Western Reps.
